RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling is a popular form of microneedling that combines collagen induction therapy with heat energy generated by the RF device. The microneedling device gently punctures the skin with tiny needles to trigger the body’s wound-healing process, increasing collagen production. Simultaneously, the microneedling device delivers rf energy deep in the skin to further enhance collagen production.

The heat generated by radiofrequency energy adds skin tightening to improve mild skin laxity (sagging skin) and gives collagen regrowth an extra boost. One session of RF microneedling is equivalent to 5-7 regular microneedling sessions! As the skin heals and healthy new skin cells develop on the skin surface, skin quality is rejuvenated, and uneven texture concerns like acne scarring, loose facial skin, and more are improved.

Your Radiofrequency Microneedling Treatment

During your RF microneedling treatment, your skin will first be cleansed to remove surface impurities and create a blank canvas for our aestheticians. Next, a topical numbing cream microneedling device is moved across the skin in the desired treatment areas(s), creating microchannels in the skin.

Results and Recovery

There is minimal downtime required after an RF microneedling procedure. After your treatment, mild skin redness and swelling are common, but these symptoms will improve and gradually disappear within a few days. Results develop gradually as the new collagen grows and plumps the skin. Most patients will see noticeable improvements in the texture of their skin within a few weeks, but it can take 3-6 months for the final results to settle in.

Who Can Benefit from Radiofrequency Microneedling?

RF microneedling can treat a wide variety of skin conditions, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, loose skin, stretch marks, and uneven skin tone or skin texture. Unlike many laser procedures, microneedling is safe for all skin types so this is an effective treatment for almost all our patients. If you have active acne or are on blood-thinning medication, you might not be a candidate for microneedling, but we can recommend other cosmetic treatments for your skin rejuvenation. The number of microneedling treatments that you require will depend on your skin concern. Patients with severe wrinkles and moderate acne scars may require more sessions than others.
